Bringing Canada’s creative minds under one roof
WPP’s global Campuses provide agencies across the group with an inspiring workplace where talent can more easily collaborate on creative ideas. Designed by BDG architecture + design, the 250,000 square foot Toronto Campus brings together over 2,000 creative minds under one roof, marking an important milestone in WPP’s vision of making Toronto one of its leading creative centres of excellence in North America.
Natural finishes and fabrics
BDG’s approach to architectural arrangement – purposefully revealing the existing building structure – provided TFP with the perfect background for furniture pieces that focus on raw finishes and fabrics, like exposed steel, natural ashes, copper and leathers. Our selection took inspiration from the location of the site – an incredible juxtaposition between factories, industry and warehouses and a natural reserve with unique vegetation and wildlife adjacent.
Repurposing existing furniture
Sustainability was an important requirement for the project, which is why TFP, alongside BDG, opted to repurpose 400 furniture pieces during the specification process, helping reduce the project’s overall carbon footprint. The selected pieces, sourced from 10 different pre-existing WPP locations in Toronto, can be seen in the main work floors, breakout areas, meeting rooms, café and arrival areas.
Where new furniture was required, attention to materiality was key in complementing the existing furniture scheme. In keeping with WPP’s commitment to achieve net zero across its operations by 2025, the Toronto Campus is currently in the process of obtaining Platinum LEED Certification.
