Design for vibrant community living
Appointed by L&G to work alongside interior designers Lister + Lister, The Furniture Practice specified a selection of elegant, modern furniture that elevates the development’s 324 new apartments and rich communal spaces.
Solasta Riverside is situated in Glasgow’s Tradeston area, just a stone’s throw from the city’s central museums, galleries, bars, and restaurants. The development places considerable emphasis on its communal spaces and resident events, aiming to strengthen connections to the city and create a sense of community benefiting its location.
To reflect this warmth and dynamism, we developed an amenities package to match, sourcing design pieces that met the individual needs of each communal setting, including spacious private dining rooms, a dedicated workspace, and an extensive roof terrace. We selected modern pieces in tasteful autumnal hues, such as wine-coloured dining chairs, anchored by softer grey tones that offer a sense of calm in the midst of the city.
Made to fit (and to last)
Furniture is a key investment for any development, so throughout the apartments and amenities we ensured well-made pieces designed for purpose that extend the lifespan of the furniture and improve its environmental performance. In the apartments, where residents are free to paint the walls and hang artwork, we specified high-quality minimalist furniture – staple pieces that offer a strong foundation for a range of styles and tastes, including bespoke pieces that can be easily updated for future refreshes of the space, thereby reducing waste.
Tailored design and development
Working directly with our factory partners, we managed the design and development process for pieces in the apartments to maximise space and ensure precisely the right aesthetic, fit and functionality for the scheme. This process included preparing prototypes of a bespoke bed and sofa for the project team to test and provide feedback on, refining the designs before going into production.
In 2023, Solasta Riverside was awarded ‘Build to Rent Development of the Year’ at the 2023 Scottish Property Awards.
