This leading tech company’s relocation to a new UK Headquarters was driven by a desire to create an exceptional office experience for its 600 staff, allowing the team to work in a more flexible and collaborative way, while also giving the company a competitive advantage in the war for talent retention.

5plus Architects oversaw the design for the 65,000 sq ft office, located in Manchester’s vibrant city centre. The goal was to create a range of settings while also allowing for maximum flexibility in how the space is used – from conferences and informal events to team meetings and presentations.

As furniture consultant and procurement partner, we worked with the client team and designers to find the right selection of furniture to support the functional needs of staff while also delivering on budget and aesthetics. Colour and materiality were important elements in the specification; we hosted showroom tours, mock ups and detailed finishes meetings to ensure that all the details aligned.

An essential requirement was to develop furniture solutions to support the client’s complex IT systems. We designed a bespoke power and data solution to seamlessly integrate the desking with tech needs and the design scheme.

With the client needing to occupy a floor of the building whilst works were taking place, our in-house client services team were on hand to support their employees. We managed the removal, storage and re-use of existing furniture once their new space was ready for staff to move in.

We appointed TFP due to the range of products and suppliers they had access to and the resulting buying power. This proved advantageous in achieving the right look and feel throughout and in procuring furniture that supported needs from IT to accessibility. A big focus of the office design was collaboration and flexibility - TFP worked well with 5plus to provide a solution which successfully achieved this.
