TFP Associate Director, Head of Sustainability & Supply Chain, Phil Towle, joins UKGBC Supply Chain Decarbonisation – Task Group Announcement
The built environment is responsible for 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions and, in order to reduce emissions, the industry must mobilise multiple sectors towards the common goal of decarbonisation. At the core of any industry’s activity are complex supply chains that necessitate collaborative work to gain clarity, agreement and the support needed to implement actions that deliver results. For most built environment organisations, emissions within their supply chain make up the largest proportion of their carbon footprint.
The UKGBC has assembled a group of industry experts to lead new research on supply chain decarbonisation, as part of its Advancing Net Zero Programme. The Advancing Net Zero workstream seeks to accelerate decarbonisation across built environment supply chains, enhancing engagement and identifying initiatives, actions and solutions to achieve Net Zero targets. In this first year of workstream activity, the group is focusing on the key topics of Procurement and Supplier and SME Engagement, and will be developing an understanding of the challenges and realising actions that can be taken to enable increasing decarbonisation.
We’re pleased to share that TFP's Associate Director, Head of Sustainability & Supply Chain, Phil Towle, has joined the new workstream on Supply Chain Decarbonisation to help accelerate decarbonisation across built environment supply chains. Phil comments:
I’m excited to be representing TFP alongside a group of industry experts as part of the UKGBC Supply Chain Decarbonisation Taskforce. This is a real chance to address some of the practical challenges around procurement and how to better engage suppliers and SMEs, helping to make tangible progress towards net zero in our industry. I'm looking forward to the impact we can make together.
